EC Markets Donates $7,500 to Seychelles Pet Haven Society

EC Markets has donated $7,500 to the Seychelles Pet Haven Society to help expand kennel space for vulnerable dogs. During a visit to the shelter on 26 June, CEO Matthew Smith presented the donation and met with the charity’s owners and the animals in their care. While he was there, CEO Matthew Smith reflected on EC Markets’ long-standing commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates: “We absolutely love this island, we love Pet Haven. It’s the third year we are donating to Pet Haven. It’s part of our stated purpose to look after the countries that we operate from.”

About the Pet Haven Society

Pet Haven Seychelles is a dedicated animal rescue charity which has been caring for stray, abandoned, and abused pets on the island for over a decade.

Run largely by volunteers, the shelter rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes animals that would otherwise have nowhere to go, and relies entirely on donations.

Right now, the Pet Haven cares for more than 320 dogs, including mothers and their puppies, and is struggling to keep up with the growing number of animals that need care.

Thanking EC Markets for the donation, Pet Haven Seychelles said: “This gift has come at the perfect time. We are currently caring for 324 dogs, and the money will help us buy new kennels and food for the dogs. We are truly grateful for your kindness and support. It will make a real difference to the lives of these dogs.”

EC Markets and Pet Haven: How it Started

Our relationship with the charity began in November 2024, when CEO Matthew Smith first visited both the Seychelles Pet Haven Society and the Seychelles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).

We’re animal lovers at EC Markets, and after seeing the dedication of the volunteers, despite their limited resources, we decided to financially support them.

Since that first visit, EC Markets has made several contributions:

• November 2024: $7,000 to Pet Haven for flood mitigation and security improvements, and $3,000 to the SSPCA towards a new indoor cattery.

• September 2025: $5,000 to Pet Haven to help cover food, shelter, and vet care.

• February 2026: $2,000 to the SSPCA after a burglary left them struggling to care for their animals.

This latest donation of $7,500 brings our total support to $24,500.

Our Commitment to Animal Welfare in the Seychelles

The Seychelles is one of the countries that EC Markets operates from. As such, we see ourselves as part of the community there, which is why we’re proud to support the Pet Haven Society.

This charity is doing incredible work, rescuing animals which are often in dire conditions, and promoting responsible pet ownership across the island.
