The dollar is weaker today, as stocks slumped on Wall Street for a second straight trading day on Thursday. The pound is much weaker versus its main peers today. Commodities are much lower, as traders seek to diversify their trading portfolios. The GBP/USD pair is lower by 0.08% at $1.5095. The USD/JPY has slipped 0.3% to 101.72 yen. ![]() JPY higher on poor Chinese manufacturing data Thursday, May 23, 2013 The yen is trading higher on all fronts this morning following the disappointing economic data from China. This really sent shockwaves through the markets, hurting Asian stocks, but helping haven currencies. As a result, the demand for the greenback is also higher this morning. There is weakness for crude oil for the third straight trading day on bearish Bernanke comments. However, gold has made a mini comeback in the past hour of trading. The EUR/USD pair is down 0.2% at $1.2834. The GBP/USD is weaker by 0.16% at $1.5025. The USD/JPY has slumped 1.22% to 101.89 yen. ![]() Yen dives as the region's bourses surge ahead Wednesday, May 22, 2013 The Japanese yen is showing it is weaker today on a rally in Asian stocks and indices. Traders feel that it is the right to move to sell the yen and buy into riskier currencies. The euro has been the biggest benefactor, as investors are of the view that there are technical indicators backing the currency. The greenback is starting to lose ground as bullish sentiment creeps into the forex market. However, commodities are still lower. Traders need to follow Fed Chairman Bernanke's speech later today. The EUR/USD pair is higher by 0.05% at $1.2912. The GBP/USD has slumped 0.06% to $1.5143. The USD/JPY is up 0.18% at 102.68 yen.
